| Introduction | Salaam! My name is Jordan and I'm studying Persian as I pursue a Master's degree in International Affairs. I began studying Persian in the Spring of 2011 with a tutor at a private language school. After enrolling in my graduate program in January 2013, I signed up for an undergraduate Persian class and began tutoring sessions with an Iranian-American doctoral candidate named Soheil. This blog follows our work, documenting Persian language lessons and also shedding light on the internal affairs and politics of Iran as we read a variety of Iranian news publications. My hope is that the language lessons will be of use to any other students learning Persian, and that the news briefs will offer a look at some of the issues occurring in Iran beyond the stories picked up by international media. |
