Introduction Marc Socié was born in Paris in 1989. He studied Printed Media at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (EnsAD). His work is influenced by illustration, literature and paper books. Between 2011 and 2012, he was on an exchange program for eight months at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His drawing style is close to scientific aesthetics, precise, pure but very detailed. He created and signed the 27 scientific illustrations of the exhibition Exploring Diversity: Cockroaches that is being held at the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge in the United States, until September 2013. Marc Socié's works revolve mainly around the theme of The Chimera, the composite being inspired by animal and human morphology. In his drawings and etchings, hybrid creatures cohabit with familiar objects and create visual surprises, sometimes oppressive, sometimes strange.
