Introduction	It all started at University. Our history professor became so exasperated with the general lack of sophistication of his new charges that he organised a wine tasting evening. Yes, we all got drunk, but I also became fascinated by wine. This blog is a direct result of that rainy evening in Leicester back in November 1991. Since that time wine has taken me across Europe and, yes, I have been to Sonoma and Napa. One of the reasons I bought the house we now live in is because it still has the original wine cellar which stays at a constant 13C all year round and can comfortably hold 500 bottles. My family and friends think I’m slightly obsessive/ compulsive when it comes to wine, but it doesn’t stop them drinking with me and joining in with my ad-hoc half-baked tastings. Tasting highs have included the 1982 Château Latour, whilst the low-point must be the 2007 organic Austrian Cabernet Sauvignon. Through this blog I hope you will all enjoy the highs and lows of my continued wine education. So please feel free to encourage, chastise, ridicule and celebrate with me as I pursue a dream of taking this hobby and turning it into a life’s work.
