Introduction	What Endures... My mother once said to me, as I was leaving home for somewhere, "Don't forget who you are". That means what it means, but I took it as this: Never to forget where I came from, who I came from or where they had been. Thinking like that has given me a sense over time of a certain facet of who I am. It has augmented my understanding of time and place and their relationship to my brief standing in the universe: What passes on past me and on through my children. Of course, you find other people's moments and you fill in the blanks around them and create a mythology of them, unless you were there it can't be otherwise. Names and dates are signposts in a strange land. What endures is DNA: eye color, a certain expression on your face, your hands, the shape of your body. I share the same DNA as my sister and my nieces and their daughters, as my mother and grandmother, great grandmother and on back. We all do. I am setting out here to give immortality to my DNA or at least what mythology I can make of it.
