| Introduction | Established in 1964, the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA), formerly the Nursing Mothers’ Association of Australia, is one of the country’s largest women’s not-for-profit organisations. We are the leading source of breastfeeding information and support in Australia. The Association aims to support and encourage women who want to breastfeed their babies, and to raise community awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and human milk to child and maternal health. More than 200,000 Australians have become members of the Association since its inception. The Upper Blue Mountains Group was started in the early 1980s and is still supporting mothers in the local area as well as training and supporting volunteer counsellors. |
