IntroductionIn college, at the University of Denver, I hung out at art classes just to be with my girlfriend. It was fun, but I was more interested in spending time with her than learning about art. The nude models were cool too. My girlfriend became my wife. She also became an art teacher. Fast forward 30 years . . . . she finally converted me . . . . I became a painter on my 50th birthday. We jumped off Zabriskie point in Death Valley and the rest is history. I have a great teacher and partner who keeps me on the artistic straight and narrow. She pushes me to experiment and not to be complacent. What a deal . . . . a loving wife and an artistic mentor. Then along came Brad Faegre. He is a friend and a mentor. He has taught me technique, color and composition. His dry humor and wry social commentary make a painting day fly by in an instant. He makes me slow down and join the world. Other painters who have personally helped me on this journey include Lorenzo Chavez, Ray Roberts, Kate Starling, Mark Fehlman, Dan Young, Jill Carver, Karl Dempwolf, Jim Wodark, Bob Burridge and Stephanie Birdsall.
