| Introduction | From an early age I had an interest in travel and adventure. I left the Netherlands age 19 and, after some travelling, ended up in the UK. I hitched-hiked and backpacked a bit in my twenties before becoming a mum and a forestry worker, then a specials needs TA. I do miss working outdoors. I lived in a tiny cabin surrounded by forest for almost 30 years with my 3 kids, dog and cats, before moving to a town. In my thirties I developed a love of mountain hiking, mostly in Wales, which eventually lead to getting into wild-camping to spend more time out and reach slightly more remote places. I tried jogging with the intent of doing some fell-running, but ended up getting injured several times, putting everything on hold for months on end. I'm sticking to hiking for the time being. I've been happy exploring England and Wales, but would like to venture north to Scotland, and possibly abroad again. |
