The Paper Artist

About me

Introduction	It has brought me great joy and satisfaction to create things since I was a small child. I've always had the ability to see things in my head and then create them with my hands. In 1999, I received my BA from Southern Utah University. I currently live south of Reno, Nevada in the shadow of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains with my wonderful family. I am a full time stay at home mom, a part time massage therapist, and a paper artist! The last few years I have enjoyed making competitive gingerbread houses, but I've recently turned my efforts to something more lasting. My passion is creating art out of high quality, handmade "tree free" paper. Each piece of paper is made entirely from recycled cotton fabric remnants, which are formed, colored, and pressed by hand into paper. My process begins by cutting the paper the shape I need, folding or rolling it, gluing it into place and ultimately creating a paper mosaic out of the different colors and shapes I end up with. This process takes many hours and a steady hand.
