| Introduction | I retired from a public library where I was responsible for the YA collection. I served on a committee through YALSA and am still a member of ALA. I have been a reader all my life. The reviews here will never be snarky. Let's be honest, I'm just a demented retiree who is excited to be able to read what I want. I am NOT nor do I pretend to be a 'professional' blogger, editor or reviewer. I would never presume that I know more about what the author or editor is trying to say when they publish a certain book. Nor will I ever look down my nose and step on the toes of those who self publish. I honestly believe that there is a person for every book. It's something that I learned working in a library. You can have a book that is beautifully written and wins all the awards but that doesn't mean a person is going to pick it up to read. The story just needs to touch one person. Books are important whether they are beautifully literary or a story that the reader can retreat into. I hope I can offer a look into a book that will peak your interest. Excuse me if I tend to babble on about some of the books. I enjoy talking about books I've read. |
