Introduction Levi Miller was born in 1944 in Holmes County, Ohio, the son of Andrew and Mattie Miller; he attended public schools and Malone University and lived most of his adult life in western Pennsylvania. In 1968 he married Gloria Miller and as conscientious objectors they spent their early married years in alternative service in rural Puerto Rico. A writer and editor, he worked for Mennonite institutions most of his professional life, including a 25-year tenure at the denominational publishing house in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. He finished his career as director of Herald Press and is the author of the novel Ben’s Wayne. In addition to his publishing work, he also served as program director at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center in Pennsylvania and as director of the Historical Committee and Archives of the Mennonite Church located in Goshen, Indiana. In the 1980s, Gloria and Levi and their children Jakob, Hannah, and Elizabeth also did several years of mission work in Venezuela They are retired and live near their grandchildren on a small farm near Wooster, Ohio.
