| Introduction | Since completing an honours degree in Ceramics at Monash University in 2002, Katie Jacobs has shown at Australian galleries including Heide - Museum of Modern Art, Craft Victoria, Linden and c3 gallery at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne, The Jam Factory in Adelaide, and Ryan Renshaw Gallery in Brisbane. She has had many successful artist residencies, working at Greenwich House Pottery in New York, the Centre for Craft and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the Guldagergaard Ceramic Centre in Denmark – featuring in the Danish version of New Idea magazine with her sculpture of Princess Mary. Recent collaborative exhibitions at c3 gallery with Brittany Veitch and Rohani Osman culminated in her desire to study popular culture in the land that invented it, the United States of America. A Temporary Victory, her 2014 Masters in Fine Arts (Ceramics) thesis exhibition, investigated social rituals and sporting customs in the USA and Australia. |
