Summer to Spring...A Year of Home Schooling

Introduction	We are setting ourselves the challenge of home schooling our children for a year. Why a year? A few boring reasons but one interesting one which is that a year seems a reasonable goal. Why home school? Mainly to keep in touch with our children. I always thought I'd be able to add the learning I felt they might miss in school on weekends or after school. But the reality of our lives so far is that school exhausts the kids and they are tired and grouchy by 3pm and not open to much other than food and down time. So we're giving home schooling a shot, not because we're dissatisfied with our public school or that the kids don't do well in school. We're thinking of it as a "Family Sabbatical" a small (and affordable) vacation from the norm. We have three children Dodger-age 10 starting 5th grade, Sailor-6 starting 1st grade and Kitten-4 attending pre-K three mornings a week. The teachers are myself-Momasquash, Dad-Popasquash and Grandma-Yogette.
