| Interests | My background is in International law majoring in the Rights of the Child (I may have written the first dissertation on the CRC when the Convention was still in draft). I have worked on children’s issues since 1979 when I was involved in the establishment of the first children’s film house in the Netherlands. Since then I have worked on a number of children's rights issues, notably children in detention, working children, children living and working in the streets, children's participation, children's organisations. Since 2001 I am based in Southeast Asia, starting as an advisor on children's participation and organisational development support to children’s organisations. Currently I am working on child protection, children's citizenship rights, and support to children who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Rights of children that need more attention: children's citizenship rights and children's economic rights. |
