Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?
aliens came one day and tried to turn all of the humans into copper. luckily, the Doctor came and saved the day, but he couldn't completely turn the humans back and so he concentrated the copper into one spot on the human body- the mouth. Specifically, space between the gum and the teeth. So, while that area isn't completely copper, it has copper-like features, like taste.
