| Introduction | I am a "senior lady" who always wanted to farm. I have lived on these three acres for over twenty years, but it is only in the last five that I realised I didn't need a huge acreage, I could raise enough meat, vegetables and fruit right here to satify the needs of myself and my DH, Ken. I have Katahdin sheep, Nubian and Boer goats, a Dexter cow who is due to calve in September 09, free range chickens of several breeds, Muscovy and Pekin ducks and a very few turkeys. I am also raising three pigs - two will be in the freezer come late fall, and one will go live with my daughter as a brood sow. I strive to raise all my animals in as natural a manner as possible. I want them to live a happy life doing what they do best - whether that be grazing grass, hunting bugs, rooting around - all the while enjoying the freedom to lay in the sun, play in the grass or munch on the hay. |
