Introduction | I'm an empty nester having great fun exploring a life-long passion for pattern, color, fabrics and textures. Raised in California in the 60s and 70s, transplanted to the historic mid-Atlantic region with a few years spent in the (very snowy) Midwest before returning to my native Texas. Along the way raised 4 children, worked for a foreign government, and at overlapping times owned and operated several newspapers, a British import/retail/mail order company and presided over an historic tourist town. I'm now excited to work up new designs and put an ever-growing fabric collection to good use. Being a 6th generation Texas from a long line of practical and talented women fuels my desires to mix strong tradition with a fresh and modern outlook through my creating. I am the current leader of the international online quilt guild known as "Quiltsy" and the immediate past president of the Houston Modern Quilt Guild. Items I've made for sale may be found at etsy.com. Married to Texas blues and jazz guitarist Randy Akin. We successfully keep the peace with his & her studios at opposite ends of our home. |
