| Introduction | I'm Kai and as a native to Orlando, I've grown up with the Orlando Sentinel in many ways. The most significant way being my father's job with the paper for 22 years. Years before my birth my parents moved down here from Charlotte, North Carolina, where they had both been newspaper reporters, so my father could write for the Sentinel. He thought he would always be writing for that paper. He believed it was important to use journalism to create changes, not just report them. He believed it was the local paper job to alert cities to crooked politicians and businessmen. He believed that a paper that was not relevant and in touch with its city was worthless. He left a few years back sensing the paper was headed for trouble; that trouble is now clear and present. I know some things cannot be salvaged, but I sincerely hope that the Orlando Sentinel is not one of them. |
