| Introduction | Married, three children, work in property management, graduate student, woodworker, love hamburgers, the "Blues," baseball, pina coladas, long walks on the beach... eh...wait a minute, that's another profile...sorry I got lost there for a moment, But, I do of course...love my freedom. |
| Interests | I like to do all the normal things_read_ watch television_ get lazy and do nothing. I am not a sports fanatic but I do like baseball. It has been a passion of mine since childhood. I do enjoy writing_ hence_ that is why I am publishing here. But I also enjoy writing fiction and have a number short stories and a shelved novel to my credit. |
| Favorite movies | I enjoy the horror genre probably the most. However_ there are lots of good movies out there. Recently_ It would be hard to pick a favorite. |
| Favorite music | I like all forms of rock and roll but_ like movies_ if I were to choose a particular genre I would have to go with the "Blues." Its primordial_ basic_ and offers an essence of the soul. It is the "rock" in rock and roll. The never ending quest to hit that note that isn't there gives the music an unmatched energy which leaves its devotees always wanting more. No other form of music has such a legacy. |
| Favorite books | I don't read too much fiction_ as a graduate student most of my reading is concentrated in my research. But when given the opportunity I like all kinds of authors. James Michener I admired because of the thoroughness of his historical fiction. I loved his method for developing the story. He put a large amount of time into researching the history in the subject he was writing about. The micro elements of the story were clearly fictitious_ but the history surrounding them was not. He took very few liberties with the actual history, giving his stories a real sense of credibility. Favorites of mine are "The Source" which given my focus on the Middle East_ particularly the Arab-Israeli conflict_ blue me away. "The Drifters" had a special meaning to me. Its Hemingwayesque treatment of San Fermin gave me a life long desire to run with the bulls which has yet to be fulfilled. Stephen King I've read a lot_ probably because of my interest in all things scary. I read every book he published up until and including "IT" a number of years back. Out of that I probably would have to go with "The Stand" as my favorite_ but that is a tough choice because he wrote so many good stories_ too many to mention here_ that really hit the mark with me. "The Shadowy thing left the room" from Pet Cemetary still gives me chills. I like schlock novels as well. My idea of the perfect vacation is to lay out on a beach in some exotic location (and I have been to many) devouring an Elmore Leonard romp. I have to do that again soon. Recently I read "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. It is one of the more excellent books on the story of Thermopylae. |
You're going to the moon! What did you forget to pack?
I am not responsible for these stupid questions the program automatically puts in the profile. But let me say that while you're visiting here hopefully there will be no questions, only answers. Also, this program for some reason does not allow me to put commas in my writing. So I am using an underscore where the comma might have been.
