| Introduction | I am a student and wannabe journalist, spending my time not studying for my French and Italian degree which I will inevitably fail, but instead shopping, procrastinating, writing self-indulgent and unfunny articles, reading high-brow left-wing papers, trying to convince people that I have no interest in low-brow culture, thinking about low-brow culture, trying to avoid the crushing reality that I live, not in a gorgeous flat in Islington thanks to my high-profile job in the media, but in fact, in a tiny room in the Midlands, with days-old food and few prospects. |
