Introduction My roots are in Decatur and Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from the Alabama School of Fine Arts I hightailed it out of the Heart of Dixie to attend Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. Though I'm head-over-heels in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains, I left Southern Appalachia to study abroad in Cape Town, South Africa for six months in the spring semester of 2011.

I earned my B.A. in Global Studies with concentrations in Appalachian Studies and Peace & Social Justice in May 2012, and have spent the past year serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA at an arts education nonprofit. This August, I start my new adventure as a full-time case worker at a local day shelter for people who are homeless.
