Introduction	Hey folks. Welcome to this little slice of my life. Making stuff makes me happy. As I grow older I only find new things to make and my joy grows. My favorite things to make are fermented condiments because I just think it's so cool they exist. I gravitate towards sour things so learning the fermented arts brings my tastebuds joy. I find that making things gives me a sense of security. If I can produce food I don't have to worry about money-and the families health stays strong. The past five years have been an ongoing experiment to see how many things I can now produce that I used to buy. The blog Forage, Farm & Ferment attempts to document the journey from dependence to freedom, and to provide a reason to polish my writing skills. (I've secretly wanted to be a writer for years but kept putting it off). Some posts will be light, others informative, and others heavy in philosophy. I'm a dork with an odd sense of humor who thinks about real serious stuff but doesn't always want to take myself seriously. I really hope you enjoy this journey as much as I do!
