| Introduction | Ravi Prakash grew up in the state of Bihar, India. The state of Buddha, Chanakya, the great university of Nalanda, and from where Mahatma Gandhi started his non-violent movement had, over the last decade or two, acquired a less than flattering reputation: the Wild West of India, governed by a cowboy chief minister. Longing for similar settings and the company of cowboys (but not the wild west part), Ravi ended up in Texas about ten years ago. When he is not watching Barney, Bob the Builder, Clifford and Curious George in the delightful company of his son, he enjoys teaching and research at a state university, watching all kinds of movies, and listening to Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Springsteen, and a variety of Indian music. |
