Introduction	Hi! This blog is written by students from The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), who study under the umbrella of the University of the Highlands & Islands (UHI). As part of our BSc(hons) degree course in Marine Science, we can apply to spend part or all of our 3rd year on the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard. We study 2 degree-compatible modules per semester here at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Hopefully this means we should graduate with honours in 'Marine Science with Arctic Studies'. This year, a record-breaking 5 of us made it north! We are: Christine, Sarah, Ailsa, Rosie and Paddy. The plan is to take turns at this blog, to paint a picture of what this incredible opportunity is like....
