Introduction Dorothy Kay is a Kansas-born head-injury survivor living New York City. In 1998, in her first semester of college she was walking home one evening when a drunk driver hit her with his pick-up truck. With a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) she was given a 7% chance of moderate recovery, but that did not stop her. Since then she has graduated, worked abroad, organized international festivals, and much more. -- She beat the odds, but she doesn't just want to beat them; she wants to change them. She has written a (as yet unpublished) memoir and guidebook of the accident, recovery and her time in university. Today she still struggles with deficits, but she's learned to manage them (for the most part). This blog is about the City, life, TBI, travel, exploration, and adventure. Through it she hopes to help inspire other survivors toward fuller recoveries, and show that full joy-filled lives are well within reach. Dorothy welcomes comments, discussion and input on all posts. She firmly believe that life not for the faint of heart and that no matter what happens, life is for living.
