| Introduction | I am a student at the University of Kansas and a die-hard sports fan. I'm the guy who watches ESPN like it's my job. The one who had a different jersey for every day of the month as a kid. I'm the one who wakes up at 2 AM the Monday before a test because it's the first time I could pick up free agent Sidney Rice (who ended up being the difference in winning the fantasy championship this year). I'm not an insider like Buster Olney or Adam Schefter. I have one former professional athlete in my phonebook, and trust me, he's not the guy on the inside who's leaking the big trade. I'm also a strong believer in fanhood. You should be a fan of your team and stick with them no matter what. There's no out-clauses that would make it acceptable to cheer for the Yankees or Patriots. Trust me, I know how tough it can be. I'm a Royals fan. But I've always been a Royals fan and I always will be. Besides, sports are so cyclical today (except for the Royals it seems), that your team will be back on top soon enough, so you might as well enjoy the ride. The lows will hurt more but the highs will be so much better. |
