IntroductionWhen I turned 30, I decided to see a naturopath because I realized I wasn't going to outgrow the once minor, now more bothersome, skin issues I was having. After a host of tests, I received the diagnosis that I am gluten and dairy intolerant, life-changing news indeed! I had a "clean" diet for about a year, but it was a challenge to achieve that goal. Eliminating gluten and dairy wiped out almost everything I knew how to make (or that I preferred to make) and once there was a limitation, I couldn't see beyond it. At first. Meal planning eventually got easier but then, well, then...Thanksgiving. My favorite meal. My favorite foods (stuffing!). Cheating at Thanksgiving snowballed into a food-fest that lasted through Superbowl Sunday. Once I got through my need to rebel, I cleaned up my diet once more. I am now enjoying the convenience of several of the newer products on the GF market but am ready to begin cooking more, like I did before I had to relearn everything. I've been cooking since I was 9 and spent most of my pre-motherhood years working in various positions for Alexa's Cafe & Catering where I first became enamored with food (and so much more!).
