Introduction Recovering Academic.

I've been a neuroscience PhD, a Clinical Research Scientist, and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry. Then I bailed on Academia, and started working at a think-tank that uses brain science to help build an evidence base for more sensible drug policies.

I have a lot of opinions about drug policies.

Yep, that's my brain up there. It's all there.

In my life, I've seen a lot of smart people do a lot of unwise things - to themselves and others - because they didn't know better. So here's my attempt at spelling out why I think a little science can go a long way in improving the way we think about drugs, and in cultivating thoughtful action, understanding, and compassion.

I can be long-winded, but I always have a point. So bear with me - and trust me... I'm a doctor :)
