| Introduction | I write and publish both historical fiction and non-fiction articles and books about Western America. Dream Helper, my first historical novel, won a Gold Medal from the Independent Book Publishers Awards. As a member of the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and Santa Barbara Maritime museum, where I am on the Board of Directors, I wrote Keepers of the Light, The HIstory of the Point Conception Lighthouse for the opening of the magnificent Fresnel lens exhibit you can visit in the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. |
| Favorite books | There are so many great books about California and the West it's hard to pick just a few. The best account of early California will always be Richard Henry Dana, Jr.'s Two Years Before the Mast. For fiction lovers don't miss the novels of A.B. Gutherie, Jr. Wallace Stegner and John Steinbeck. |
