| Introduction | I am a writer, writing coach and dancer. I received an MA in creative writing from CU Boulder, and my manuscript won the Jovanovich Award for best graduate thesis. My photographs, fiction and nonfiction have been published in literary journals, newspapers, magazines, and ezines. The purpose of this blog is to relate the moments when my bliss, DANCE, has offered me opportunities to awaken. While dance is active, presence is still. In this contradictory meeting of doing and being, center is found. Dancers think up to go down, finding the edge between the draw of gravity and the perseverance to stand or transcend. Pushed and pulled like taffy, space is not taken for granted. Great dancers don’t copy choreography; they dive into it speaking the choreographer’s intent with their own unique language. The dance is different every time, appreciated in the moment and lost in the next. These insights, epiphanies or moments of "Ah Ha!" are found in yoga, sports or anything we do with awareness. I would like you to share your stories – the moments that bring you to your knees in surrender or make you laugh and release the weight of the world; to realize how precious this life truly is. |
