Introduction is a Pearson 323 built in 1982 by Pearson Yachts. The original owner, Dr. Martin Landis allowed his son who was also my friend, Dr. Greg Landis, and I to sail the boat as we wished. In 1988, Greg and I bought the boat from his father in an informal partnership. Greg and I, both bound to hospitals and on-call most of our lives shared the boat by alternating weekends off call but sailed together frequently. In 1992, I could no longer afford my share of the payments and Greg and his wife, Debby, assumed the entire financial burden but allowed Mandy and me to continue to sail Foxglove whenever we could manage to get away. In 2001, Greg offered the boat back to me in the same offer I had offered to him; that I simply take over the payments. But in 2001, there were only two years left on the loan. We owe Greg and Debby a great debt of gratitude. Their generosity allowed us the opportunity to own this boat and partake in this adventure; an adventure we hope to repeat annually. But there was much to be done to bring Foxglove back to her original glory. Since 2001, we replaced or rebuilt the engine and transmission, refrigerator, head, bilge pumps, hoses, sound system, batteries.
