Mr. Stick
My blogs
| Introduction | Mr Stick is not my user ID for game sites. On vacation in San Diego a few years ago, my little sister introduced me to Hold Em. I lost to her, vowed it wouldn't happen again, and bought Phil Helmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros. Back home in Hawaii, I made a table top with plywood & felt, balanced it across a wooden sawhorse & plastic table, and hosted my first game: a $20 tournament, blind structure from fulltiltpoker.com, with 9 poker virgins. After enduring months of Friday night drunks, the real card players surfaced and I was invited to a $50 cash game, told to bring $100 which, then, was more than I wanted to risk. I was staked. I lost. I wasn't going back. Coincidentally, that was the last game because the host was extradited on unrelated charges. I bought his table and with it came chips, chairs, and all the players. From then on, I hosted 1-4 nights/ wk, up to 3 tables, tournaments and cash games, until I left for the mainland just a few weeks ago. Now, unemployed in Seattle, I am on a home game quest. This blog will chronicle my experiences with the intention of serving as a review for those interested. |
