| Introduction | I am an associate professor of English at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. I have been with the college since 2001. I received my PhD from the University of Rochester. My book, Degrees of Freedom: American Women Poets and the Women's College, 1905-1955 (Bucknell 2008), traces the influence of women's colleges on the poetic development of American women poets--Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Bishop, and Sylvia Plath--in the first half of the 20th century. I am also the co-editor of a volume of new essays on Elizabeth Bishop with Thomas Travisano and Angus Cleghorn, Elizabeth Bishop in the 21st Century, University of Virginia Press, 2012. My husband, Jonathan Miller, is director of the Olin Library at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and our son, Sam, is college student. |
