| Introduction | After nine months of following a strict Macrobiotic diet, African prenatal dance classes, and great expectations, my mother, gave birth to me at a cozy home in Berkeley, CA. Several years later, at age four, we moved to central Mexico where she raised me in an Eco-village named Huehuecoyotl in the majestic mountains of Tepoztlan, Morelos. Co-founded by a group of people from various countries around the world, I was exposed to many different cultures, languages, values, religions, and belief systems. I attended creative, alternative, and active schools that practiced emergent curriculum and inspired children to develop their creativity and innate skills. During these formative years I learned about recycling, composting, gray water systems, organic gardening, holistic medicine, conflict transformation, and many other ways to coexist and work in harmony with the forces of nature. Now, as an educator and global visionary, I dedicate my life to helping children develop into their full potential as the youngest members of our society. Although there is much work to be done, I believe that there is hope and we can do it by starting small: one child and family at a time. |
