Introduction | Being a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, what I blog will naturally be influenced by my religious background. At the same time, the personal views and thoughts that I express here obviously don't represent official teachings or doctrine of the Church. My blog serves as a public-personal journal where I can document what I'm learning through my Biblical Hebrew studies. The part of this journey that I find most exciting is discovering Hebrew language expressions and grammatical structures within the extra-Biblical Standard Works of the LDS Church. Having said that, it's been a journey with some unique, unanticipated challenges. When I read the Book of Mormon now, I have to be very careful to keep my focus on the doctrinal richness of the book (the spiritual content) instead of the structural language. This is because literally every page includes multiple examples of Semitic language elements. My hope is that once our children are older, they'll be able to appreciate what I find so interesting about this life-long study. |
