| Introduction | I have worked at NPCS in Schenectady, New York for 26 years in a variety of roles. For 11 years I have been the sole Parent Educator in the parent education program. I have been a student at Empire State College since 1994. I am currently working on my Masters in Adult Learning Program. My goal is to look at how to "pull" parent education into the 21 century and make more engaging and productive through the use of new and emerging technologies and use of social media. I am a social activist involved in social justice issues are at the heart of my living and learning. I have been involved in: animal rights. worked in Hunger and Homeless programs, work with NYS DOH doing HIV/AIDS work, have studied attachment and foster/adoptive care and adopted 4 boys. I am currently a Council Member of the National Parent Education Network (2016-2019). I am a Certified Family Life Educator with the National Council for Family Relations, a NYS Credentialed Parent Educator and recently was admitted to the Fellows Academy of Zero to Three, a national organization involved in public policy work and development for all children birth-three years. |
