About me

Gender Female
Location Birmingham, Alabama, United States
Introduction I'm a volunteer environmental educator and supporter, and a former faculty member in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since January, 2007, as a member of The Climate Project, I've been presenting science-based programs on climate change to schools, churches, civic organizations, and business and community groups. The League of Women Voters of the United States is strongly in favor of legislation which would support aggressive action to cut our greenhouse gas emissions. I serve as Natural Resource Chair of the League of Women Voters of Alabama and am on the Climate Change Task Force of the national League. Our impact on the climate has become a major focus for me. In December, 2007 I travelled to Antarctica to learn more about the changes there. I'm vitally interested in the kind of legacy we are leaving for the young of all species, including my own two grandchildren. I'm a native of Birmingham, and am married to retired real estate attorney Jerry Lanning, who is assisting the Freshwater Land Trust in saving land along our waterways.
