Introduction	I'm a currently a student at ACC, and I am taking a class on American government, which this blog is for. I am taking this class for two reasons, the first being that it is required for my degree, and secondly I am actually quite interested in the workings of our government and the political standpoints of those who live here in Austin. I grew up on Cape Cod MA and I've lived in TX for approximately two years now. I have not lived in Austin long however as the majority of those two years were spent in the town of Kerrville. Politically speaking I'm fairly independent, there are policies and beliefs that I find myself drawn to in both of the major parties, though there are quite a few in both which I wholeheartedly disagree with. My political stance is helpful in that I am more open minded and not likely to disregard a good argument based on its source, however sometimes not siding with one party completely leaves me having to work harder to support my views. I have voted at every opportunity and I try to stay up with current events. On my civil literacy test I scored a 75.76% and on my current events test I was only able to correctly answer 8 out of 12 questions.
