| Introduction | A mockingly self-described "eternal shodan", I first began training in the early months of 1995 at Ohio University with 2 quarters of physical education classes. The gym floor was weak and worn and the walk to Grover Center bitter cold. But the training was a pleasure and it was there that I first devoted myself to learning the art of Shotokan karate. That dedication has waned heavily since acheiving the rank of Shodan in May of 1999. The reasons--err, excuses--are many and really matter not. What is of importance is that the time is now to forge ahead and recapture my place along the martial path. Given proper focus and decdication, this will be a demanding year, physically, mentally, and spiritually. These writings are little more than a vain attempt for me to keep my sanity as I attempt to find, once again, the path I set out upon nearly 13 years ago. |
