Introduction | I am a 50-something woman living in the Midwest, USA. I am divorced and have one child that is heading off to college. I have been in the medical profession for 35 years and have lived in 10 different states, mostly in big cities. In my early adult years I was career driven and rose to the top of my profession by age 35. I married at 36 and had a child at 39. Since then, my primary focus has been on raising my child. My career choices have revolved around raising my daughter as a single parent. In my early fifties I became restless, unsettled, and somewhat unglued. I no longer had a passion for my work. I did not want to live where I was living. I wanted to try things I had never done before. I could not put my finger on what was happening to me until I read Inventing the Rest of Our Lives by Suzanne Braun Levine. Other women were experiencing the same journey as I. I started this blog as a way of communicating with other women that are starting to see the world and their place in it, differently. I don't have any answers or advice to give but I will share my experiences and hope that you will share yours with me and others who might read this blog. |
