Introduction I'm Professor of Management at The York Management School in the University of York (UK) and this blog arose from discussions with my final year management and gender students. It's for anyone who is interested in exploring the gendered nature of organizations and work, and the many ways in which that shifts over time, place and mood. Whilst I spend my days immersed in issues of management and organization, change and consulting, I firmly believe that development comes through openness to different perspectives that enable us to better inquire into our assumptions. So expect some boundary spanning - I've published on aesthetics, anthropology, film, language, literature, media, music and philosophy as well as things closer to the everyday staple fare of organization, management and gender studies. And whatever perspective you come from or want to get into, your contributions are welcome.
Interests Multiplicity, fluidity, doing gender, undoing gender, gender and metaphor, corporeality, bodies, ethics, desire, sexuality, new forms of masculinity/femininity, gendered cultures, gender across cultures, gender in methods/ethnography, gender in media, changes in composition of the workforce. Poststructuralism, altermodernism... the end of isms-ism, and particularly Deleuze.
