| Introduction | The journal shares some of my experiences living and working with Lenca farmers from 2005 through 2007. Nahuaterique is a formerly disputed territory on the border of Honduras and El Salvador. My friends here have a long history of surviving seemingly hopeless situations: war, racism, economic oppression, and environmental devastation. My time in Nahuaterique taught me about the horrors of war and poverty, but also about the value of community and forgiveness in overcoming injustice. |
