Introduction My name is Janet Rankin. I have lived in Missouri my entire life. I am married and have two sons. I have a Masters in Nursing. I love crafts of all kinds but, the one that I enjoy most is quilting. I learned quilting from my grandmother. She first taught me how to embroider quilt blocks. We then would piece them and have the ladies over for a quilting bee. To me quilts are unique creations. There are no two alike. I find quilting to be very relaxing. The best way to get started working with fabric is to take what cotton fabric you have. Find an old shirt or dress you don’t wear anymore and use that. I love my crafts but I like to do them for as little as possible—I will just say it, “I am cheap”! Women who grew up quilting in the early 1900’s used what they had—feed sacks, old dresses made with feed sacks. Nothing seemed to go to waste. To me quilts mean more when you recycle what you have. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t go and buy a color of fabric to help piece it all together. Basically I hope that you join me on my blog, and if you have any ideas or projects you have made, please feel free to share. That is how we learn new things, is by sharing.
Interests Crafts if all kinds. I mostly like to sew, piece quilts and scrapbook and make cards--today!
