| Introduction | My political ideology is Libertarian. I find this label quite fitting considering I do advocate for personal liberty, yet personal responsibility. My primary political influences have been my parents, who tend to be more right-leaning. In an indirect way, Franz Rosenzweig has been influential in my life to various degrees. Rosenzweig's philosophy of understanding where you come from in order to direct where you want to go, really resonates with me. This has motivated me to educate myself on political values I identify with, as well as ones that are contrary to my natural leanings in order to gain a broader understanding of societal political ideologies. The extent of my political experience is voting and self education. I'm taking this course as a required pre-requisite for a baccalaureate nursing program. However, I also hope to have a firmer understanding of American Government and how I can translate that into my role as an everyday citizen. How can I enact change in a user friendly way? I did above average on both the civics and current events quizzes. I give credit to my high school American Government teacher for my success on the former quiz :) |
