Introduction	Dr. Mayschak has touched the lives of many through his medical service in the past number of years. He graduated from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1978 and completed his residency in Lubbock, Texas. He then spent 22 years practicing as a general surgeon and hospice director in Wasilla, Alaska. In 2007, Dr. Mayschak and his family relocated to New Mexico, where he has spent the past 5 years as an integral part of developing the palliative care program at Presbyterian Hospital. His holistic approach and dedication to patient- and family-centered care has improved the quality of life of each and every person treated over the past 34 years.
