| Introduction | As a housecall veterinarian, I have been an intimate guest in people’s homes to care for their beloved pets for 20 years now. I have seen some amazing things, both inspirational and thought provoking. I’ve also experienced the veterinary profession evolve over time from a rigid, strictly intellectual approach to medicine, to a far more holistic, living, breathing entity. I am infinitely more fulfilled by being able to incorporate all of my gifts, rather than just focusing on my left-brained analysis of a “case,” as I was taught in veterinary college. I love to study and feel the energy of animals and their caretakers in their natural environment, going through the flow of their daily routine. It gives me invaluable insight into medical and behavioral issues that a hospital setting never afforded. |
