| Introduction | Charles Rus is the Associate for Liturgical Arts at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina, Washington. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Charles received degrees from the Eastman School of Music ('84), the University of Michigan ('85), and, as a Fulbright Scholar, the Folkwang Hochscule fur Musik in Essen, Germany ('87). His teachers include Russell Saunders, Robert Glasgow, and Gisbert Schneider. During his 20 years in San Francisco, he was an organist for the San Francisco Symphony, organ teacher at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, organist for Temple Emanu-El, and Music Director at St. John's Episcopal Church. Since my days as a student at the Eastman School of Music I have been serving Episcopal and Catholic parishes in the roles of organist, choir director, and liturgist. In this blog I hope to share my ongoing efforts to create moving, relevant, and engaging worship experiences with a wider audience. |
