| Introduction | We became a military family when both our sons enlisted in the Army National Guard after the horrors of 9/11/2001. Shawn was the first to deploy to Iraq, serving with the 142d Field Artillery in Baghdad, and returning home shortly after the final end of Sadaam Hussein. Shapiro deployed almost immediately upon his brother's return, attached to the 39th, and spent his tour overseeing convoy security in Southern Iraq. I'm honored to be their mother, and they are my heros. During their absence, I spent untold hours locating and researching resources for keeping in contact with our sons, and searching out American companies and organizations that show their support by providing services to military families and our soldiers. I'm hopeful this blog will provide a small clearinghouse of outstanding companies and organizations, and that both new and seasoned military moms, dads, husbands, wives and children will find support and courage through our experiences. |
