| Introduction | I was born with club feet, and deaf in both ears at a place called Esperanza, British Columbia, Canada. I was taken out of my home by social services, and fostered out. What I do remember is my social worker dropped me off at the Williams home. I couldn't walk at the time, so I crawled up their steps. It was thought that I would need to be in a care home the rest of my life because of my physical conditions. But my foster parents thought other wise, and started demanding better treatment for me. It was done, and I had series of operations on my feet and ears, and after my last feet operations I had to do exercises and now I walk like everyone else. It wasn't easy, believe me. I also had series of operations on my ears, and the first time I heard was when I was about 10 or 11 years old. That was an experience in itself. Hearing for the first time, such as cars honking their horns, birds chirping, people talking. It was all foreign to me, and I had to learn what these sounds were. |
| Interests | I'm helping the kids get a skateboard park because as a kid I never had anything. Nor could I do what they did because I was born with club feet and deaf in both ears. I had series of operations on my feet and ears and now I walk and hear like everyone else. Now I go around helping people and one project I'm working on is helping kids get a skateboard park built. The kids approached the Village Council of Gold River (City Council) and said they don't have the funding for a skateboard park and can't help build a skateboard park. I never had a skateboard park when I was a kid. Just because my generation was without a skateboard park doesn't mean this generation is to do without. That's why I was asked to see what I could do to get a skateboard park. So I'm turning to you, if you can help build a skateboard park, let me know. We need to start on the planning, sketching, getting the materials, then physical laborers to build it. |
