Gender Female
Industry Arts
Occupation playwright, painter, writer
Location Ontario, Canada
Introduction I began my artistic career in the 1970's, as an actress, touring small northern towns doing mask and clown performances. Since then, I've moved into playwriting, arts education, visual arts and film. When I look back, I see that I have always been drawn to stories that resonate with another era or stories of inter-generational friendships. I gravitate towards old papers and story books; vintage clothing and costumes and fabrics; accordions and violins and pianos. My first inspiration has been and always will be my family; my own six siblings, my parents, my life partner and my now-grown three children. My hope is to encourage others to find what resonates for them, and to trust their own creative voices.
Interests Current projects include a film for young audiences titled "Under the Pearl Moon", a winter quilt I'm making with lace scraps and vintage blues, a memoir about my relationship with anorexia as a young woman, a creative writing project with adults who have been diagnosed with a mental illness, a play about an Italian immigrant family of teenage girls in the 1950's in small town Northern Ontario, a play about a brother and sister growing up without a mother in the remote north in the 1930's, titled "Night Wings"
