| Introduction | I am Morgan Faison, a first-year master's degree candidate in Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. My background is in the field of Education and Child Development and I am a certified K-5 Educator in the great state of Georgia! I officially began my teaching career last year as a first-grade Math and Science Teacher. However, I have been teaching for many years, one of which was spent at an African-centered private school in Atlanta. My specific interests in the field center on culturally responsive pedagogy, racial identity, and what it means to be an effective teacher to student's of the non-dominant culture, both nationally and abroad. I plan to pursue a Ph.D in the near future. Afterwards, I will be the founder of my own school which will empower those students who have traditionally been marginalized in educational settings. |
